New York, 26 September 2019. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion of the Republic of Malta signed today a Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of Political Consultations, with the objective of strengthening bilateral relations through dialogue and mutual cooperation, in accordance with the objectives and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961 and the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963.
The Memorandum was signed by Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, and his Maltese counterpart, Carmelo Abela, at the United Nations, where both ministers of foreign affairs participate in the high-level segment of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Cuba and Malta established bilateral relations 42 years ago.
