Cuba and Malaysia express interest in strengthening partisan ties

Kuala Lumpur, December 3 - The Cuban ambassador to Malaysia, Ibete Fernández Hernández, held a cordial meeting with the secretary general of the United Malaysian National Organization (UMNO) party, Datuk Seri Ahmad bin Maslam on the occasion of the end of the mission .

During the meeting, they confirmed the good state of relations and spoke about partisan exchanges, as well as promoting bilateral ties in different sectors.

The meeting was also joined by the president of the party and former vice prime minister of Malaysia, Zahid Hamidi, who thanked the visit and praised Cuba's achievements in controlling the pandemic, which he considered could be a sector susceptible to cooperation in the future.

UMNO and the PCC have had formal relations for more than a decade and several exchanges took place in the past.
