Cuba and Indonesia willing to move forward in sports cooperation

Jakarta, March 3rd- The Cuban ambassador to Indonesia, Tania Velázquez López, held a meeting with the President of the Indonesian Boxing Association (Pertina), Mr. Jhoni Asadoma. During the occasion they examined the preliminary results of the collaboration between both countries in that discipline sporty. Thanks to an agreement between Pertina and Cubadeportes, a Cuban technician assists the Indonesian national boxing team, an experience that has also allowed the development of community actions in the East Nussa Tengara province, the team's preparation base.

Mr. Asadoma expressed his satisfaction with the results achieved so far and reaffirmed his willingness to continue the historic cooperation with Cuba. He acknowledged the contribution of our country to the preparation of the Indonesian team for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. For its part, the Cuban diplomat conveyed  that our country's support for Indonesia in the sports field is a clear expression of the ties that have united our peoples for 60 years.

With the support of Cuban technical cooperation, the Indonesian national boxing team reached 6 medals in the last Asian Games held in the Philippines. Currently the team looks for their Olympic tickets in the qualifying tournament of the Asian region that takes place in Jordan.
