Suva, February 11. The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Fiji, Carlos Manuel Rojas Lago received Mr. Peter Emberson, director of Multilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of this country. In the helpful meeting, both discussed extensively on issues of common interest in the multilateral arena and assessed the development of the main aspects in bilateral ties.
Mr. Emberson recognized the growing exchange between the two nations at the main headquarters of international organizations, mostly at the United Nations, its agencies and programs. He also highlighted the multiplicity of issues in which dialogue and cooperation could be intensified, taking into account the shared status of Small Island Developing States. The Fijian diplomat also commended the outstanding execution of Cuba on the international stage and its active participation in the global fight against climate change.
On his side, the highest-ranked representative of Cuba here, once again thanked the support of this Pacific Island to the battle of the Cuban people against the genocidal blockade policy imposed by the United States. Likewise, he shared the experiences of Cuba in dealing with climate deterioration, detailing the strategic actions and tasks contained in the “Project Life” State Plan.
Mr. Solomone Momoivalu, director of the Americas Division and other officials of the Fiji Ministry of Foreign Affairs also participated in the meeting.
