Ottawa, April 25, 2021 - This weekend, Canada joined the worldwide Bridges of Love caravan to express its rejection of the U.S. blockade against Cuba.
On this occasion, Cubans and Canadians demanded an end to the genocidal U.S. blockade to our country from Montreal, Vancouver, Victoria, Winnipeg, and Nanaimo.
The caravans were organized by the association of Cubans resident in Montreal, and supported by the solidarity organizations: "Canadian Network on Cuba", "Quebec-Cuba Solidarity Roundtable", "Communities in Vancouver in solidarity with Cuba", and "Friends of Cuba in Victoria".
The attendees rejected the U.S. blockade against the island, and in their statements explained that this was intensified during the COVID19 to unprecedented levels, greatly affecting the lives of the Cuban population and limiting the country's economic resources. They also recognized Cuba's achievements in the control of the pandemic, the care and treatment of the disease and the development of 5 vaccine candidates, 2 of them in the third and last phase of clinical trials, with the aim of immunizing the entire Cuban population by the end of 2021.
