SRI LANKA, September 11, 2020. - The Ambassador of Cuba, Juana Elena Ramos Rodríguez, paid a courtesy call on the new Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Admiral (R) Jayanath Colombage.
During the meeting, both parties highlighted the historical relations of friendship and cooperation between both countries, as well as the mutual interest in continuing to strengthen them. Issues of bilateral interest were also discussed.
Mr. Colombage recognized Cuba's work in confronting COVID 19 while facing the sanctions imposed on Cuba as a result of the blockade.
The Ambassador congratulated him on his appointment while wishing him success in his new responsibilities.
Also present at the meeting were Manisha Gunasekera, General Director for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Lakshita Raknayake, the new Ambassador designated for Cuba.
