Jakarta, January 25, 2018. Cuban Ambassador Nirsia Castro Guevara was received on Thursday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, by the new Director of America I, Zelda W. Kartika who took office on January 12.
The meeting was propitious to review the state of bilateral relations and their development in recent years. Both diplomats recognized the good state of diplomatic ties and individually thanked and highlighted the mutual support provided on issues of priority for both countries, such as lifting the blockade of the United States government against Cuba and supporting candidacies in international organizations.
Other topics addressed during the meeting were the possibility of expanding bilateral cooperation in areas such as education and health, as well as the potential in the commercial sphere and the importance of identifying specific projects that can boost economic exchange.
Among other actions to be developed during 2018, it was agreed to carry out cultural activities to commemorate the 58th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, and to promote business with Indonesian entrepreneurs and businessmen to encourage commercial exchange between both parties.
