The 8th Che Guevara International Conference is held in Vancouver.

Ottawa, October 25, 2019 - The 8th International Che Guevara Conference, organized by Vancouver Communities in Solidarity with Cuba and the Canadian Network of Solidarity with Cuba, will take place in Vancouver on October, 26 and 27.

The first of these conferences was held in 2008 and its central theme was "Che Guevara, Thinker and Fighter: Are His Ideas Relevant for the 21st Century? On this occasion it will be on "Socialism yesterday, today and tomorrow: The continuity of the Cuban socialist project" and it will be a propitious moment to reflect on the Cuban Revolution, its validity and the impact it has had in Latin America and the world.

This event has traditionally convened a wide audience. In its 8th edition will feature workshops, panel discussions, film shows, art exhibitions. The Cuban Embassy in Canada will be represented by Guivel Orozco Ortega, second Head of Mission, who will give two presentations on "The Cuban Socialist and Internationalist Revolution. The challenges of unbreakable leadership. How far have we come? and "The new Constitution of Cuba and the continuity of the Cuban socialist project"; and by the Third Secretary, David Aldama Pando, who will speak on "The dynamism of the Cuban revolution: 60 years developing the leadership of the revolutionary youth".

Otros oradores que intervendrán en el evento son el Dr. Luis Acuña Cedeño, encargado de negocios de la Embajada de Venezuela en Ottawa; la Dra. Helen Yaffe,, profesora visitante en el Centro de América Latina y el Caribe y catedrática en Historia Económica y Social en la Universidad de Glasgow, Gran Bretaña; el periodista Keith Bolender y el ensayista Arnold August, ambos canadienses, entre otros destacados especialistas.

Other speakers at the event are: Dr. Luis Acuña Cedeño, Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of Venezuelan in Ottawa; Dr. Helen Yaffe, Visiting Professor at the Center for Latin America and the Caribbean and Professor of Economic and Social History at the University of Glasgow, Great Britain; Journalist Keith Bolender and Essayist Arnold August, both Canadians, among other prominent specialists.
