The 60th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution was celebrated in Austria with a cultural gala and reception. It was organized by the Cuban Embassy in that country, at the headquarters of the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, with the presence of authorities of the Austrian government, the International Organizations based in Vienna, the accredited Diplomatic Corps, friends of Cuba and Cubans residing in this country.
The Cuban Ambassador to Austria, Juan Antonio Fernández his words, highlighted the historical importance of the first Socialist Revolution in the history of Latin America, the deepest and most radical Revolution of our times, which recovered the sovereignty and definitive independence of the Homeland. His Excellency also reiterated the commitment of the current generations of Cubans to its continuity and renewal, being faithful to the legacy of the Historical Leader, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.
The event was an opportunity to publicly denounce the most recent measures adopted by the Trump´s administration against Cuba, which dangerously reinforce the extraterritorial nature of the blockade imposed for almost 60 years against the Cuban people and which represents an attack on the international law, the sovereignty of Cuba and third States.
Representing the Government of Austria, H.E. Mr. Marcus Bergmann, Deputy General Director of the Cultural Section of the Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of Austria, congratulated the Cuban Revolution on its anniversary and stressed the historical ties of friendship which have united Austria and Cuba during more than 72 years of steady diplomatic relations.
The public enjoyed a cultural gala featuring resident Cuban artists, whose program covered different genres, stages and styles of Cuban music, with the common denominator of the classical, traditional and anthological repertoire, played with professionalism and dedication. The musical works of Ignacio Cervantes, Ernesto Lecuona, Miguel Matamoros, Joseíto Fernández, among others, in the performance of Amalia Alonso, Jacqueline Hechavarría, Paula Carbonell, Luisón de Armas, Nelson Williams Herrera, Rudy Ochoa, Yoelvi Montano, Víctor Fuentes, Eldis La Rosa, and Yhasmani Martín.
The event was an opportunity to bring together friends of Cuba in Austria and Cubans through a high level cultural event for the celebration of the Triumph and in support of the Revolution.
